The starting point

What we mean by health

The World Health Organization defines health as more than the absence of disease. It is a balance between physical, mental and social well-being — a condition that develops through everyday experiences from the earliest years of life.

Fiabe Motorie® starts from this perspective: educational movement is not simply physical activity, but an integrated pathway that supports children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.

“A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being — not merely the absence of disease.”

World Health Organization

Childhood sedentary behaviour is an important public-health challenge. Early motor experiences can support the development of the cognitive skills children use at school and in everyday life, including attention, working memory and self-regulation.

How it works

The structure of each session

Each Fiabe Motorie® session follows a deliberate progression that activates motor, cognitive, emotional and social dimensions at the same time. It is a motor-cognitive educational method in which movement tasks are designed according to age and developmental goals, while storytelling provides the context that gives each action meaning.

📖

Storytelling

The child enters the story and identifies with a character. The narrative creates the emotional context that guides behaviour.

🏃

Purposeful movement

Varied, engaging and physically demanding activities develop fundamental motor skills while keeping the child actively involved.

Cognitive development

Attention, working memory, inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility are stimulated while the child is moving and making decisions.

🤝

Emotional and social development

Shared play supports self-awareness, emotional regulation, cooperation and empathy.

What it develops

Executive functions at the centre

Development is stimulated in an integrated and progressive way, respecting each child's pace. The method works across interconnected physical and cognitive areas.

💪

Physical development

Structured motor activity supports fundamental movement patterns, coordination and physical confidence.

🎯

Attention

Children practise maintaining focus, selecting relevant information and responding to changing signals.

🌀

Coordination

Movement sequences improve body awareness and the organisation of actions in space and time.

🧩

Problem solving

Children adapt strategies, solve new motor challenges and respond flexibly to unexpected changes.

🛑

Self-regulation

Waiting, stopping, following rules and controlling impulses are practised naturally within the game.

🗂️

Working memory

Children keep instructions in mind, remember sequences and make decisions while rules evolve.

Scientific foundations

Built in dialogue with international research

Fiabe Motorie® combines field experience, academic training and scientific literature on child development and executive functions. The method has developed in dialogue with international research, including the work of Prof. Adele Diamond on executive functions.

🧠

Cognitive neuroscience

The framework draws on research into executive functions, learning, movement and child development.

🎓

Field application

More than ten years of direct work in real schools and educational settings have shaped and refined the method.

🌍

International dialogue

Collaboration and scientific exchange support the ongoing development and evaluation of the approach.

Registered method

Fiabe Motorie® is a registered educational method delivered by trained professionals with specific preparation in its methodology.

Families' experiences

The experience in the field

Feedback from families and educators reflects what we observe in practice: children are highly engaged when movement is embedded in a meaningful story and structured around achievable challenges.

“A wonderful experience. My daughter felt very comfortable with the instructors and every evening she wanted to show me what she had learned.”

Egle C. — Camilla's mother

“The stories capture the children's imagination and the sessions are always approached with great enthusiasm. It is a method that can adapt to each child.”

Stefania M. — mother of Alessio and Simone
